In late 2009, the people at ShopBot Tools contacted me about organizing a Mini Maker Faire for North Carolina to coincide with their annual ShopBot Jamboree. I leaped at the chance, put together a small but indispensable team of local artists and Makers, and together we made it happen.
On April 25, 2010 Durham hosted the first Maker Faire: North Carolina. We had over 2100 attendees, fifty Makers and commercial exhibitors, eight awesome music acts, and seven sponsors for a 12-hour extravaganza!
The second annual Maker Faire: North Carolina is on Saturday June 18, 2011 at the NC State Fairgrounds.
